What color versions of Casio DBF-50W exist?
Casio DBF-50W was released in three main color versions: a standard black, a black case with yellow buttons, and a rare white case with multicolored keys.
- Standard Black Version
Black resin case and strap with matching black buttons. Subtle orange and turquoise text give it a clean, futuristic look. This is the most common version and the one most collectors remember from the 90s.

- Black Case with Yellow Button
Matte black resin case with bold yellow “joystick” buttons. Extra blue and red accents on the sides make it sporty and eye-catching. Much harder to find than the standard version.

- White Case with Black Buttons
Bright white resin case with contrasting black bezel and strap. The arrow keys are multicolored (blue, yellow, red), giving it a playful 90s style. This is one of the rarest versions and highly collectible today.

What are the main features of Casio DBF-50W?
Casio DBF-50W combined standard timekeeping with organizer-style databank functions, offering up to 150 records across different modes.
- Timekeeping Mode: 12/24-hour display, full calendar, weekday shown in 6 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese.
- Telememo: Stores up to 50 names and phone numbers, sorted alphabetically.
- Schedule Memo: 50 appointments with date, time, and reminder alarm.
- World Time: 29 time zones, daylight saving, customizable city codes.
- Stopwatch: 1/100s precision, measures up to 23:59:59.99.
- Personal Data: 50 records for passport, ID, insurance, blood type, and more.
- Alarm: One daily alarm plus hourly time signal.
💡 In the 1990s, these functions made the DBF-50W feel like a mini PDA on the wrist. Today, it is more of a curiosity, but all modes still work if the module is healthy.
Strap and Case Details – How easy is it to maintain Casio DBF-50W today?
Maintaining Casio DBF-50W today is possible, but not always easy because of its unique strap and fragile resin case.
The original strap was a custom resin band that measured 17 mm at the lugs and widened to 21.5 mm where it connects to the case. Finding an original replacement is very hard now, and NOS straps appear only rarely. Collectors often use adapters or carefully modify modern 17 mm straps to fit.
The case is resin, which means it can yellow over time and is prone to cracked lugs if the strap is stressed. The acrylic crystal scratches easily, but it can be polished back to clarity with Polywatch or fine sanding. The white version is especially tricky, because over the years it turns yellow.
